Old Hog Farm - Bottles
Before 1935, Green was known for one thing - its smell. Green was home to a very large hog farm. Garbage from Akron was hauled by the wagon load to Green to feed to the pigs. The garbage, the pigs and the pigs became quiet a nuisance and residents demanded that the pig farm be shut down for health concerns in 1935.
The old hog farm was located in the area of the Lowes Store near Arlington Road and Interstate Parkway
Our upstairs archive includes bottles discovered on the old hog farm grounds, donated by Jerry Miller in 2020. These bottles are believed to be 'remnants' undigested by the hogs. Think on that.
