Anthony Taylor

Anthony Taylor was a landowner and farmer in Green whose contributions helped shape the community's agricultural history. Although much of his personal story has been lost over time, his innovation lives on through the patents he earned and the legacy of his work. His 1833 patent was the first in Green Township.

Interestingly, this is an 'x' patent. It was issued before the U.S. Patent Office fire of 1836; thus, it was not numbered. The 'x" is meant to distinguish the patent from the current numbering system in place today. For more info, see The search for lost X-patents | USPTO.
