Digital Cemetery Mapping

The Green Historical Society would like to create a online plot map of the cemeteries of Green, starting with Greensburg Cemetery.  Our cemeteries are very well cared for in Green and are in excellent condition.  However, some of our oldest graves are not clearly marked, either because markers were never placed or markers have broken or are now covered by earth and grass.  A digital GIS plot map of the cemetery will ensure that moving forward burial locations are permanently recorded and searchable worldwide via the Internet.

Historic Images of Green on Google Earth

Ever see an old photograph of Green and wonder "Now where was that?"  Well, wonder no more.  GHS has begun storing historic images of the past and present in Google Earth.  Users searching locations in Green on Google Earth will be able to view these photographs at the actual location of the subject of the photographs.

Digital Archive

The Green Historical Society is preserving our local historical information in digital form. 
Our goal is to provide digital copies of our local historical photographs, documents, and memorabilia to the public via our website.
We will make arrangements to copy your historical photographs and documents at the location of your choice at our cost and we will provide you with digital copies of the photographs or documents for your own use.

Local Landmark Designation Applications

The Green Historical Society works with willing property owners to research and prepare applications for local landmark applications for the City of Green.  Local landmark applications are reviewed and approved by the Historic Preservation Commission of the City of Green.  For more information about the Historic Preservation Commission, click here.Click here to see all Local Landmarks in Green

Green Branch Library Donations

The Green Historical Society is working to locate copies of local history references, obtain these references, and donate the references to the Green Branch of the Akron-Summit County Public Library and the Green High School Library.  The goal of this project is to make as many local history references available to the public as possible.  This project has been undertaken with the support of the Green Branch Library and the Green High School Library.
The Green Historical Society is working to identify additional local history books that would be useful references for those interested in the history of Green.  If you have suggested books that you would like to see available at the Green Branch Library or the Green High School Library, please contact us.
