The members of the Green Historical Society have been invited to attend the City Council Committee Meetings next Tuesday, March 24th at 5pm at the Central Administration Building. This meeting will be an opportunity to discuss the potential future uses of the German Schoolhouse currently located near the Arlington and 619 intersection. This site will soon be the location of a new Circle K gas station and the schoolhouse will need to be moved quickly to clear this site. The GHS Board has confirmed our attendance with Chris Humphrey, Council President, and is preparing a short Power Point presentation about the historical significance of the German Schoolhouse to share at this meeting. Please note that the discussion regarding the Schoolhouse will not begin until about 5:30 pm.
All members are welcome and encouraged to attend. ALL CITIZENS OF GREEN ARE ENCOURAGED AND WELCOME TO ATTEND - THIS IS A PUBLIC MEETING. This is your opportunity to make your opinions known about the fate of the German Schoolhouse. Please consider attending and utilizing this opportunity. Please be prepared to discuss not only your thoughts regarding saving the schoolhouse but also potential reuse options that would make saving the schoolhouse a fiscally sound investment for the City of Green and/or a private organization. Thank you.
Please join us at the restored Lichtenwalter Schoolhouse to learn about early life in Green and attending school in the 1880's.

Memorial Day Parade Line-up Number: 12, Green Historical Society
Thank you for choosing to participate in the City of Green's Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26, 2014. Please read these parade instructions thoroughly and communicate to all your parents, children, family and friends. The parade will step off at 10:00 a.m., departing from the Green High School parking lot.
Line-up for parade entries will begin at 8:00 a.m. All parade entries must enter the parade line-up site from the east drive of the high school parking lot. Parade start and end location will be the Green High School parking lot. Entry to parade line-up will be accessible only from Boettler Road. No parking will be permitted at the Middle or Intermediate Schools. To drop off an individual that is participating in the parade, please use the east side high school parking lot (from Boettler Road). Once your parade entry has traveled the entire parade route, we ask all entries to travel back to the Green High School parking lot to disburse or unload parade participants. No one will be permitted to stop in the Middle School drive or parking lot to unload; Summit County Sheriff will be on hand to keep a continuous traffic flow.
Some general parade guidelines: with the addition of two new Emergency Rooms on Massillon Road, we ask that if you hear sirens, please stop the parade progression as if you were in a vehicle. If you have children participating in the parade, we ask that they do not throw the candy like it is a baseball or a missile. We have had children watching the parade progression getting hit by flying candy as well as children running into the street to retrieve candy and almost getting hit. If you are throwing candy, please let your walkers distribute by tossing gently to parade observers. The Massillon Road route will be using the west two lanes, please throw candy to the west side spectators only.
